Pick the right shoes – shopping guide

This post is for your inner Carrie Bradshaw 🙂 Women’s obsession with shoes is something that will never fade away. Yes, recently makeup did steal a bit of a spotlight, but still, when you get in a really good pair of shoes it instantly gives you that wow factor and puts a high note to your entire look. I love shoes, always did and always will.

And when I say shoes I mean high heels 🙂 Sneakers are for running, for gym, for those extra active days, but in every other situation I wear heels. Not only because I am short and keeps my posture looking good, but because it makes me feel more feminine, more attractive and more confident….it just makes me feel like the best version of myself 🙂 Nowadays there are so many options when it comes to shoes, especially online, and choosing the right form that fits your style, body type and height can be a bit overwhelming to say the least. But that’s why you have us bloggers to help you make a good choice:)  I hope you’ll enjoy this shoe-shopping guide and it will help you pick the right pair.

Let’s start from boots since they are my favorite type of footwear. There are a lot of different forms and all of them will not fit every look and every body type. But there are always ways to cheat and make them look good by combining them with certain outfits.

For example, like I said I am short and wearing longer ankle boots is never a good idea for me, because no matter how much is heel high, It still makes me look short. But I love ankle boots so I compromise and buy shorter ankle boots that will not be too over my ankle and wear them with skinny jeans or tight pants and that’s it, it doesn’t shorten my leg too much and I love how I look in them.

Good thing is a option for everyone. For taller girls it’s easy with boots. They can wear any type of boots and they will look fabulous, but for us short galls we need to struggle a bit. Clear boots and lace up boots are a great option for you want to show some leg, they will not shorten you in any way if you want to combine them with skirts or dresses. Sock boots are very popular right now, but they look the best on skinny girls, since they are very tight.

Since I love wearing heels on daily basis, I usually go for fuller heel instead of the slim one. Why? Well it gives you more stability and they are just more comfortable for longer walks. Slim heels look amazing and are very sexy but they are not a good choice for everyday wear, your feet will become suicidal 😀

This is currently my favorite pair of ankle boots. I got them from Fashion Nova and they are super comfortable with quite stable heel while still looking fabulous. And that’s not an easy combo to find 🙂 I love the biker chick vibe they have and they are black with goldish buckle so they can pretty much go with anything. We talked about boots, but since the warmer weather is coming, let’s to focus on lighter footwear. There are different forms here as well but there is a good old saying that can apply here:  “the higher the heel, the better you feel!” 😀

Stiletto heels are shoes with long, thin, high heel. They are named after the stiletto dagger, and the phrase was first recorded in the early 1930s. Stilettos, give the optical illusion of a longer, slimmer leg, a smaller foot, and overall greater height. They alter the wearer’s posture and gait, flexing the calf muscles and making the bust and buttocks more prominent. They look good on almost everyone and that’s why they are a good startup pair for girls that are just getting into wearing high heels. But I have to warn you, they are not made for long walks!

More comfortable option would be the block heels. They give a more steady feel and they can also be quite high if that’s what you are looking for, but there are shorter options too.

With lace up heels, the same rule applies as with ankle boots. If you are short and the lace is above your ankle your leg will seem shorter. So choose wisely! The more your foot is revealed the longer your leg will look like and wise versa. If you are tall and want to wear high heels, get some that will cover your ankle and your legs will not seem as they are never ending 🙂 Or maybe that’s a good thing? 😀

And let’s mention some flat wear also 🙂 Honestly the only flat shoes I wear are sneakers and I use them for running, power walks or gym only. Even on the beach I wear platforms that feel as flats, but better 🙂

These adiddas sneakers are really great, they are very light in weight so they are amazing for running. They also give a great ankle support and that’s very important to me when working out.

  1. I agree that shoes are important! Haha. I also relate to always wearing high heels everyday, they definitely give me a lot of confidence whenever I walk in them.

  2. I can count on one hand the number of shoes I own. However, my daughter must have 50 pairs of boots of all shapes, colors, styles, and materials. My Mom just bought three more shoe stands that hold 40 – 60 pairs of shoes each! She donated 60+ pair of shoes a few weeks ago and still isn’t sure if the shoes without a home will all fit on the new stands.

  3. OMG I’m a big fan of shoes, especially boots. They help me look taller and more fashionable. I have a shoe collection at home, which contains many types of shoes. I think that many girls do get involved in shoes like me. Thanks for the post!

  4. I love shoes and have tons! I don’t wear a lot of heels but would love to try. Thanks for giving me some tips on this will try some out soon!

  5. This is very helpful. I learned a lot from this post. I am not a fan of stilleto but will consider the block heels instead.

Also, I love your adidas sneakers. It’s really nice.

  6. I need to up my shoe game! I just bought my first pair of booties and I love them! I’m too scared to try stilletos, though!

  7. Excellent and decent post. I found this much informative.
I’m impressed by the details that you have on this web site. Thank you for this post.

  8. I am so thankful for what you have shared that it is a good option for everyone. I haven’t tried wearing high boots yet. But you’ve just encouraged me to go and search for my desired design or style!

  9. I really liked it when you said that a pair of ankle boots paired with skinny jeans or tight pants will work well for a girl that is small. To be honest, I will not have a problem with boots if that is the case since I am rather tall for my age. That also means that I won’t have to worry about wearing the western boots that I have been eyeing for a while now since I know it will look fairly decent on me. Thanks for the info!

  10. I have to agree with you when you said that shoes with broader and fuller heels are better for long walks because they are more comfortable to the feet. That is the reason why I cannot seem to let go of my boots even after they have broken. They are the ones that offered the best comfort to me while walking– and I love walking. I think I will just have them repaired rather than look for a replacement.
